Elementary Student Handbook:

High School Student Handbook:

Release of Information: Please notify the school if you do not wish to have your child’s name, address, or phone number given out for the following purposes: invitations, university and military recruiters, honor roll lists, student of the month, etc.

School Publications – At Central Valley, we enjoy celebrating our students' learning, activities, and accomplishments. Throughout the year we will post articles, pictures, or videos of these celebrations in papers, our website, our Facebook page, and other media. If you wish for your son or daughter to not be published, please contact the office to opt-out.

School Newsletters: Newsletters will be sent directly to parents and students in grades 7-12 via e-mail. Please provide your e-mail address(es) to the school for this purpose as well as other quick communication. Please check them for upcoming events as well as changes in dates and times of things happening in school.

Telephone Calls: Phones are located in all classrooms. When you call the school you will be instructed on how to reach a teacher’s classroom or office. Individual extension numbers will be provided to you. Please do not call the school and ask to have a student or teacher removed from the classroom for a call unless it is an emergency. Teachers will check their voicemail throughout the day for messages. The office staff will also check for messages and deliver them to students.

School Visitors- All doors will be locked during the school day. All people coming to the school between the hours of 8:35 am and 3:15 pm are required to buzz in at the front door, state your name and purpose for the visit, and stop in at the office. You will need to sign-in and wear a visitor badge.

Chromebooks – All Grades 7-12 students will be issued a school-owned Chromebook. Parents must read and sign the Chromebook policies and agreement form before a Chromebook will be distributed. These forms can be found HERE and will also be emailed to parents who have supplied their e-mail address to the school. Students are responsible for the proper care of the Chromebook and ensure it will be charged and ready for school each day.

Grades K-6 have a chromebook for each student in their classroom. These chromebooks are not allowed to leave school grounds without special permission from the administration.

Attendance/Homework – If a student is to be absent, parents should call the school to notify the office by 8:30 am. All missed school work will need to be completed and handed in to receive credit. High school (7-12) students can miss a maximum of 10 days per class per semester. Any absences in excess of the maximum, need to be accompanied by a written doctor’s note or the student will need to make up their time hour for hour.

PowerSchool Logins – Through PowerSchool, parents may log in to see their child’s grades, lunch accounts, attendance, etc. Parents can also set up e-mail notifications to be sent daily, weekly, or monthly with this information to avoid having to go to the website to check as well. Any parent who would like a username and password to set up a PowerSchool Account please contact Mrs. Sundby (jennifer.sundby@k12.nd.us) with a phone call or e-mail for instruction on how to set it up. Click the Powerschool tab at the top of this webpage for more information and links.

Parents’ Right To Know

Through federal education law, parents have the right to request information on the professional qualifications of the teachers and paraprofessionals at our school. If you are interested in learning this information, please contact the school administration office at (701)847-2220. Upon this request, you will receive a detailed explanation of the licensing, education and experience of each of our teachers. You will also receive information regarding the names and qualifications of the paraprofessionals at our school.

Asbestos: The reduction of asbestos contamination in our school continues. Some areas toward this end are:

1. Awareness training for new employees

2. Semi-annual re-inspection

3. The Asbestos Management Plan is available in the Superintendent’s office.

4. Most identified discrepancies are corrected or will be before school starts this fall.
